It was not too many years ago, that every kid needed
a Nintendo to keep up with his friends. At least that is what we were
lead to believe. What is that special toy today? I don't watch TV
commercials, and I don't need to look in the stores to see what is
selling the best because I no longer have kids. There is so much
variety in toys that it must be frustrated trying to decide how to
spend their last available money wisely.
How many of the toys which are popular today will still be in use in
another 20 years? Crayola Crayons are one of the 20 most recognizable
smells in America, but in Europe, many have never even heard of wax
crayons.
LEGO was voted the "Toy of the Century" and has been a bestseller
since its introduction in Denmark in 1932. LEGO is now manufactured in
many countries around the world, appears to be a toy for a lifetime.
The children who get hooked on LEGO continue to enjoy playing with the
LEGO blocks throughout their childhood. There are other toys which
children like to use to construct things, and they don't all cost as
much as LEGO.
A timeline of toys would show how toys, like people have changed thru
the ages. |
